This 1930s Rolex Oyster Flatback is one of the first waterproof watches in history, featuring a screw-down crown and case back – a radical innovation for its time. Its nickname Flatback comes from its flat case back.
In 1930, Rolex registered the Rolésium trademark; very few Oyster models were produced in this metal. Examples from this period are now extremely rare on the market.
The case back bears the Geneva "key" hallmark reserved for precious metals. Its presence here speaks volumes about the uniqueness of this piece.
Condition
Nearly 90 years after its manufacture, the white dial is original, unrepainted, and radium-free, which explains its pristine condition. Gold leaf hands, intact original crown. Movement inspected and validated by our watchmaker.
